MBCA’s Ruth Denison Conservation and Environmental Scholarship is made possible through a generous bequest from Ruth Denison. Ruth was the first Buddhist teacher in the United States to lead an all-women's retreat for Buddhist meditation and instruction. Her Dhamma Dena Desert Vipassana Center is located in Joshua Tree. Ruth was a long-time supporter of MBCA, the Morongo Basin’s oldest conservation organization. The minimum requirements are that student applicants must be Morongo Basin residents, high school graduates in their senior year, and have a GPA of at least 3.25.

In 2015, acknowledging the growing need for qualified addiction and mental health professionals to help those struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders, AAC decided to launch an educational scholarship program to assist students who were enrolled in college programs in the area of Behavioral Health. We established our Behavioral Health scholarship awards to provide financial assistance that to would enable undergraduate and graduate students to pursue careers in the areas of behavioral health and addiction-related studies.

Eledageability Requirements:  
  • Student MUST be a dependent of a veteran and have proof (DD-214 or a VA letter showing service).
  • Student must be accepted to 2 year Community College, a 4 year university, or a Techanical/Trade school that will result in a degree or certificate. 
  •  GPA of 2.5 or above

Students can fill out the application in the TPHS Counciling office and submit with a seperate type written paragraph explaining why they would be the Ideal candidate for the scholarship.

The Career & Technical Scholarship Program is funded through the Horatio Alger Endowment Fund and the generosity of Association Chairman Emeritus and Endowment Fund President Walter Scott, Jr.  Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. 
To be eligible for the Career & Technical Education Scholarship, applicants must:
  • Be under the age of 30 at the time of applying. 
  • Be a United States citizen
  • applicants must have earned a high school diploma, high school equivalency credential, or will complete this requirement by the application deadline.
  • Will be enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2019
