 L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers and Illustraitors of the Future Contest is an opportunity for new writers and Artists of science fiction and fantasy to have their work judged by some of the masters in the field and discovered by a wide audience.
Writer Contest Rules 
  1. No entry fee is required
  2.  All entries must be original
  3. To be eligible, entries must be works of prose, up to 17,000 words in length.
  4. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media. 

Illustraitor Contest Rules

  1. The Contest is open to new and amateur artists who have not been professionally published
  2. Each entrant may submit only one set of illustrations in each Contest quarter.
  3.  The entry shall consist of three illustrations done by the entrant in a color or black-and-white medium created from the artist’s imagination. Use of gray scale in illustrations and mixed media, computer generated art, and the use of photography in the illustrations are accepted. Each illustration must represent a subject different from the other two.
  4.  Each winner will receive a cash prize of US $500. Winners will also receive eligibility to compete for the annual Grand Prize of $5,000

This scholarship award is in honor and memory of Special Agent and Major Michael Edward Weston (December 29, 1971 - October 26, 2009), 37, of Washington, D.C., died in a helicopter crash in western Afghanistan on Oct. 26, 2009, where he was serving as an agent for the US Drug Enforcement Agency.  Son of retired Alston & Bird partner, Steven W. Weston this scholarship fund has been established in memory of Mike Weston and his dedicated service to our country. 
1) You must be a high school senior during the 2012-2013 school year and a legal resident of California.
2) Your mother, father or primary caregiver currently serves as a member of the armed forces (including reserves or National Guard if activated).
3) Minimum 3.0 grade average as certified by school counselor.
4) This $500 scholarship is not based on financial need.
5) Relatives of employees of Alston & Bird may not enter.
6) You must be admitted to a degree program at a higher educational institution for admission in Fall 2019.

MBCA’s Ruth Denison Conservation and Environmental Scholarship is made possible through a generous bequest from Ruth Denison. Ruth was the first Buddhist teacher in the United States to lead an all-women's retreat for Buddhist meditation and instruction. Her Dhamma Dena Desert Vipassana Center is located in Joshua Tree. Ruth was a long-time supporter of MBCA, the Morongo Basin’s oldest conservation organization. The minimum requirements are that student applicants must be Morongo Basin residents, high school graduates, and have a GPA of at least 3.25.

The CMC Southern California Edison STEM Scholarships are intended to encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields. Several $1,000 scholarships are available to students pursuing an Associate degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming, Computer Science, Environmental Studies or Mathematics. Preference will be given to students preparing for transfer into a baccalaureate degree (B.S. or B.A.) program in science or mathematics. These scholarships are to attend Copper Mountain College. There are multiple $1,000 scholarships available for high school students. The scholarships may be renewable for $1,000 for a second year (funding permitting) at Copper Mountain College provided the student remains in the science/math program, and is making satisfactory progress.

American Graphics Institute offers multiple scholarships to encourage the use of design and creative thinking across various disciplines and fields.  

All scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements along with all other scholarship rules, including:

  • Must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited two or four year college or university located in the United States for the Design Thinking Scholarship. This can be any accredited college or university, and it is not limited to students of American Graphics Institute.
  • One scholarship application per person may be submitted during each scholarship period.
  • The scholarship winner must be a legal resident of the United States or hold a valid student visa.
  • A completed scholarship application form must be submitted.
  • The scholarship is void in any jurisdiction where prohibited by law.

We want you to address what motivates people to think they can safely text and drive.
