Graduation/Mother’s Day/Father’s Day

The months of May and June bring a rapid end to our school year. The momentous celebration upcoming will involve our local graduation ceremonies that are the highlight of the year and the reason for which our public education system exists.

It is also the time to recognize those individuals who have assisted our graduates every day. Moms and Dads continually sacrifice in order to guide their children toward a simple goal of reaching their dreams. The celebration of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day has become, in some ways, over-commercialized by the greeting card companies. Raising a child in today’s polarized world can test the patience of us all.

Please take a moment to reflect upon all the hard work that has occurred that guided that young person to walk across the stage at graduation. Many different people often fulfill the role of parents – some are not even related to the child, but have stepped in to take on the role. Please “take a bow” as you have helped your child make this first symbolic step into their new world of both freedoms and responsibilities that come with the end of their high school career. They will make you proud by their deeds and accomplishments, please take a moment to bask in the glow of this moment.
