RED RIBBON AND SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK: are next week, Monday, 10/23 through Friday, 10/27. Students and staff may dress up for School Spirit Week. The daily events are: Monday: Tie Dye Day; Tuesday: Pajama Day; Wednesday: Sports/Jersey Day; Thursday: Dynamic Duo Day; and Friday: Twin Day. Go Lions! Mrs. Herrera

PRIDE BOARD WINNER: Congratulations to Nathan Stainbrook who won the drawing for the Pride Board. He selected a soccer ball! Way to go Nathan!! Keep up the good work students! The Pride Board is almost full again. Mr. Alberg

NO VOLLEYBALL: There will be no volleyball practice on Thursday, 10/19. Ms. O’Grady

FALL DANCE: The Fall Dance will be held on Friday, October 27th, in the MPR from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale from Wednesday, October 18th – Thursday, October 26th. The cost is $5.00 with ASB and $7.00 without ASB. Permission forms are available in Student Services and the tickets will be on sale in the Student Store. Mrs. Herrera/Ms. Crawford/Mrs. Hann

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD: Did you know that the La Contenta Parent Association selects 2 students (one 7th grader and one 8th grader) each quarter who have had perfect attendance for the quarter? The winners will each receive a $50 gift certificate from Walmart. At the end of the year, they will also select 2 students who had perfect attendance for the whole year and they will win $100 gift certificates from Walmart. MINIMUM DAY: is TODAY, October 18th. Buses will pick you up 2 hours later than normal and school will start at 9:09 a.m. Dr. Gruwell

ASSEMBLY DATE CHANGE: The Marc Mero Assembly scheduled on Friday, 10/20, has been changed to Thursday, 10/19, due to Mr. Mero’s schedule. We will be on a special bell schedule that day. Dr. Gruwell

GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKE-OUT FULL EVACUATION DRILL: La Contenta will be participating in the Great California Shake-out Earthquake Drill on Thursday, 10/19, at 9:15. All classes will duck and cover and then we will do a full evacuation. Remember to be quiet during the drill and when you are evacuating to and from the field. Mr. Powell

FLAG FOOTBALL GAME: Good luck to Coach Gates and the flag football team when they play Twentynine Palms Junior High School on Thursday, 10/19, at LCMS. Students may stay for the game if they have a signed permission form. Forms are available in Student Services. Come cheer on the football team! Go Lions!!! Dr. Gruwell

END OF 1ST QUARTER: is on Friday, 10/20! Can you believe that school year is 1/4 of the way over already? Keep up the hard work!!! Dr. Gruwell

MOVIE NIGHT: Family Involvement Committee is hosting the first Movie Night on this Friday, October 20, in the LCMS MPR. We will be showing Monster Trucks. Movie Night is completely free, and the food is also free. We will be serving pizza, popcorn, and drinks for those who attend. Please remember that you must be accompanied by a parent the entire time you are there. Families are encouraged to bring in blankets and chairs for comfortable seating. Doors open at 5:30 and the movie starts at 6. Hope to see you there! -Family Involvement Committee

SATURDAY SCHOOL: is on Saturday, October 21st, from 8:00 – 12:15 in Room 33/34. Students and parents/guardians can sign up in Student Services or by calling the school office. Students should attend Saturday School to make up absences or if they are in Credit Recovery. Sign up for Credit Recovery in Student Services or in the Counseling Office. Parents/guardians must provide transportation but lunch is provided. Dr. Gruwell

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL MEETING: is on Monday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the library. Dr. Gruwell

ID CARDS: Students, if there is an error on your ID card, please come to the library during your lunch time with your ID Card and Ms. Webb will help you. Do not use class time. No schedules will be accepted in the library after today. If you lose or damage your card, a duplicate card is $5.00 cash. Ms. Webb

FEDERAL SURVEY CARD DAY: Did you turn in your card yet? Please do so IMMEDIATELY! Dr. Gruwell

FAMILY RECORD CARD AND BUS SURVEY: Please be sure to turn in your blue Family Record Card and your Bus Survey if you have not done so already. Dr. Gruwell

TICKETS FOR SIX FLAGS: We have extra tickets from the Six Flags Field trip that we did not use which are valid through December 31st, 2017. The tickets are on sale in the Student Store at cost which is $42.17. We have 14 tickets available. If you are interested, bring your money to the Student Store Monday – Friday during your lunch time. Mrs. Hann


All La Contenta Middle School students may get a FREE breakfast before school starts as well as a FREE Grab-N-Go Supper immediately after school ends each day. 

Remember: Breakfast and the Grab-N-Go suppers are FREE to ALL STUDENTS!!!
