RIDDLE FOR THE DAY:
A man was cleaning the windows of a 25 story building.  He slipped and fell off the ladder, but wasn’t hurt. How did he do it?   
 
CAMFEL PRODUCTIONS ASSEMBLY:  We will be on an Assembly Bell Schedule on Thursday, October 25th, for the Camfel Production Assembly, “It’s My Life”, brought to you by your ASB/Leadership Class.  Students will report to their 3rd period class before going to the MPR.  All backpacks are to be kept in the classroom.  Have fun!  Thank you ASB/Leadership!    Dr. Gruwell     
 
FLAG FOOTBALL:  Good luck to Coach Gates and the flag football team when they travel to Twentynine Palms Junior High School on Thursday, October 25th, for a 2:15 game.  Players will be dismissed at 1:15 to be ready to leave at 1:30.  Go Lions!   Dr. Gruwell

HALLOWEEN GRAMS:  This Wednesday, October 24th, the La Contenta Parent Association will begin selling Mini Halloween Stuffed Monsters at lunch times in the MPR.  The cost for each is $1.50.  Buy one for yourself or send one to a friend and it will be delivered on Halloween, October 31st during 8th period.   The supply is limited so get yours soon.  Join in the spook-tacular fun!  La Contenta Parent Association                
 
YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL DRUMLINE will be holding a Parent/Student meeting for all students interested on Tuesday, October 30th at 6:30 p.m. in the YVHS Band Room (H-1).   Mr. Bill Barrett                
SCHOOL SPIRIT & RED RIBBON WEEK:  is this week, October 22nd – October 26th.  There will be special activities during lunch times on Monday – Thursday and Spin-to-Win on Friday.  Theme days for School Spirit week are:  Monday – Pajama Day; Tuesday – Tie Dye/Clout Day; Wednesday – Twin Day; Thursday – 80’s Day; and Friday – Sports Jersey Day.  Go Lions!   Mrs. Herrera and Ms. Crawford     
“NIGHTMARE ON LA CONTENTA STREET” DANCE:  The fall dance, “Nightmare on La Contenta Street”, will be held this Friday, October 26th, in the MPR, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Tickets are on sale now through, Thursday, October 25th.  Tickets are $5.00 with ASB and $7.00 without.  Permission forms are available in Student Services or the Student Store!  Get your ticket now and get your spook on!!!   Students are allowed to wear costumes but no masks or hoods that cover the face and the dress code guidelines must be followed per Dr. Gruwell.         Mrs. Herrera, Ms. Crawford, and Mrs. Hann                
 
THE TOWN OF YUCCA VALLEY is looking for students grades 7 through 12 who attend school in Yucca Valley to serve on the Youth Commission.  A limited number of commissioners can be appointed each year.  Appointments are made in the fall with Commission members serving during the school year.  The Youth Commission is not active in the summer months.  Students may apply by completing an application.  Applications are available in the Student Services Office on the counter.  The deadline is November 1, 2018.   Dr. Gruwell     
 
FEDERAL IMPACT AID DAY:  was October 3rd.  All students should have received a Federal Impact Aid Survey Card.  Please be sure your parent or guardian completes the form and return it to your 1st period teacher tomorrow if you didn’t today. This information helps increase funding for our schools by recouping lost revenue from nontaxable federal property.  Ms. Thomas will offer 3 popcorn parties for the 1st period classes who turn 100% of their cards in first.  It will be based on class sizes to determine the 3 winning classes.  Thank you.    Dr. Gruwell
