CONGRATULATIONS to Derek Weidner, Cooper Berry, Elizabeth Dahlberg, and Allison VanVacter. These students were selected by the LCMS staff to receive the Masonic Lodge Award. This award is based on “outstanding citizenship, merit, participation in school activities, and overall positive attitude.  This honor is reserved for those students that make a difference in their classrooms and serve as positive reinforcement to those around them.”  Congratulations to Ms. Rae Rupert for on being selected as our faculty member demonstrating these same qualities and devotion to our school and students.  These students and staff will be honored at the Yucca Valley Masonic Lodge, located at 7065 Dumosa Road, on April 27th.  Doors to the lodge will open at 6:00 p.m. with music provided by the Yucca Valley High School Jazz Ensemble. The official ceremony will start at 7:00 p.m.  Please tell these award recipients thank you for making La Contenta a better place to learn and work and congratulations on earning this award.         Mr. Goddard

ARTWORK FOR 8TH GRADE PROMOTION PROGRAM:  8th Graders, would you like to have your artwork on the cover of the 8th Grade Promotion Program?  Please submit your entry to Ms. Thomas no later than Monday, April 30th.  Your artwork should be in color, on an 8.5” x 11” white paper with your name on the back.  Your submission can include a LCMS lion, Lion Pride, etc.  Good luck!        Dr. Gruwell

SOCCER GAMES:  Good luck to our soccer teams this week.  On Tuesday, April 24th, there is a home game at 3:00 vs. Nicolet Middle School.  On Wednesday, April 25th, players will leave at 2:00 and return around 6:30 for a game at Mesa View Middle School.  Go Lions!

CALLING ALL PERFORMERS: Do you dance, sing, act or have some hidden talent you'd like to share? Then consider being a part of La Contenta’s Annual Talent Show to be held on May 24th. This is your chance to showcase your talents on stage. Those who are interested can pick up an entry form, permission slip, and more information in Student Services. Please return completed forms to Student Services by Friday, April 13th. The first rehearsal starts Wednesday, April 25th in the MPR. Late buses will be available. SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL TRYOUTS:  will be held this Wednesday, April 25th (instead of April 11th) from 2-3:45.  Practices will be held every Wednesday and Thursday from 2-3:45 starting 4/26.  There will be 2 games against TPJHS on 5/17 and 5/24 – more information to follow about the games.   The softball coaches are Mr. Eigner and Ms. Templeton and the baseball coach is Mr. McBrayer.  Permission forms are available in Student Services.        Dr. Gruwell

CONGRATULATIONS to Johana Modesto! She was recognized as the 8th Grade AVID Standout for LCMS in a ceremony at the California Theater in San Bernardino. Way to go, Johana!

ANGEL’S GAME:  ASB is sponsoring a field trip on Friday, May 11th, to Angel’s Stadium for a 7:00 baseball game against the Minnesota Twins.  The bus will leave at 3:30 p.m. (you may stay after school) and return around 12:30 a.m.  Parents must pick you up at LCMS when you return. Tickets are on sale now through Friday, April 27th so get your ticket soon.  The cost is $38.50 with ASB and $40.00 without ASB.  Permission forms are available in Student Services and in the Student Store.   Mrs. Herrera/Ms. Crawford

MOVIE NIGHTFamily Involvement Committee is hosting Movie Night this Friday, April 27th in the LCMS MPR. We will be showing “Wonder”.  Movie Night is completely free, and the food is also free. We will be serving pizza, popcorn, and drinks for those who attend. Please remember that you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian the entire time you are there. Families are encouraged to bring in blankets and chairs for comfortable seating. Doors open at 5:30 and the movie starts at 6. There are RSVP slips to fill out on the bottom of the fliers if you plan on attending. The slips are due Tuesday, April 24th, to your 1st period teacher.
