THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS AUGUST 21ST, 2017
ORIENTATION - AUGUST 16TH  
 
Orientation for the 2017-2018 school year will be on Wednesday, August 16th. Orientation is Open House-style. Drop in sometime between 7:00am and 11:00am to pick up your students' schedule, purchase PE clothes and ASB stickers, sign up for Parent Portal, and more! All activities will be held in TPJHS Gym.

Parents will be able to sign up for this app with their cell phone to receive important updates from Mrs. Smalling regarding TPJHS. Example of events Mrs. Smalling sends out text messages for:  1. When busses are running late.  2. Reminders for events happening that day, 3. Late Start days. These are just a few examples of events that notices are sent out for. Get up to date information with the Remind App.     
 
Information on how to sign up for this app will be given out at Orientation on August 16th.   

MESSAGES FOR STUDENTS

As a reminder, we do not take message for students. This is a safety feature for the protection of your child. If you would like to speak with your child before the end of the school day, please make sure you call our office PRIOR to 1:30pm. After 1:30, we can not guarantee we can get the message to your child to call your phone number that is listed in the school database.

NEW STUDENT INFORMATION - PLACEMENT TESTING

For the 2017-2018 school year, all students new to Twentynine Palms Junior High are required to take an English and Math Placement test.  Please call the front office at 760-367-9507 for details on registration and placement testing dates.  Due to the Registrar being on summer break, your name and phone number will be required so that the Registrar can call you back on August 4th to schedule the Placement test.

TDAP SHOTS REQUIRED FOR 2017-2018

California law requires that ALL incoming 7th graders must have the "Tdap" booster prior to starting school this fall for the 2017-2018 school year. Students who have not received their Tdap booster will NOT be allowed to start school in August 2017..

New state law SB277 states that personal and religious beliefs exemptions (or waivers) are no longer valid. Those students with waivers signed during elementary school must now meet ALL school immunization requirements, including Tdap, for 7th grade.

No Shots? No Record? No school.

Children will not be enrolled unless an immunization record is presented and immunizations are up-to-date.*

*If your child is unimmunized due to religious, personal or medical reasons, please notify us. California started on January 1, 2016, exemptions based on personal beliefs, including religious beliefs, are no longer allowed.
