General Information

SCHOOL OFFICE HOURS - The school office is open from 8:30am to 4pm, Monday - Friday. The only exceptions are on Minimum Days, when the office is open from 11:00am to 4pm and on holidays when the office is closed.

PARENT PHONE NUMBER(S) - Please ensure that the school is able to contact you during the day by providing at least two phone numbers where you can be reached. Please keep the school informed, as soon as possible, of any changes in telephone numbers, emergency contacts, bus stops, or other information.

MESSAGES FOR STUDENTS - Messages to students are handled through the office and delivered to rooms by staff or student messengers at approximately 2:50 pm. Please have any necessary messages called into the office no later than 2:30pm.

RELEASE OF STUDENTS - Students must be signed out in the office when picked up during the school day. Students may not be released to anyone not listed on the Family Emergency Card. Please update your child's emergency card when new numbers and/or names need to be added become available.

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES - Parent MUST CALL the school office by 2:30pm when there is a change in your child's transportation plans. Per the Parent/Student Handbook, "no changes to a student's transportation home will be made after 2:30pm. This is to ensure that all students receive this important information in a timely fashion." Any student who normally rides a bus home from school will be put on the bus he/she regularly rides unless the office is notified by the parent or guardian of the change. This procedure is for your child's protection.

SCHOOL PROPERTY RESPONSIBILITY - Students are to use books in a reasonable manner and cover all textbooks with non-adhesive book covers to provide protection. Textbooks and any books that are lost or damaged will be charged to the pupil to whom it was assigned. This also includes library books. Report cards may not be released until all financial obligations for that student are met. Any unpaid financial obligations will follow the student into any MUSD school location.

PERSONAL ITEMS AT SCHOOL - Students are discouraged from bringing personal articles from home in order to avoid loss, damage or arguments over ownership. The school is not responsible for these items. We do have a Lost and Found in the multi-purpose room and encourage you to look through it when clothing, backpacks, etc. are misplaced.

CELLPHONES - All cellphones must be turned off and secured in the student's backpack. Students are not allowed to take them out during the day OR use them to take pictures of others. Students found with cellphones in class will have the cellphone confiscated until a parent will be able to pick the cellphone up in the school office.

CHARACTER COUNT SLIPS - Students that have exhibited appropriate responsibility, behavior and/or leadership will be rewarded with a Gold Slip. Gold Slips are turned into the office and on a daily basis winners are picked from the turned in slips. Winners get their choice of prize from the prize box in the office.

FIELD TRIPS - Field trips are intended to be an extension of a student's educational experience in the classroom. While we can appreciate how much fun it can be to accompany your child to exciting places, the ratio of adults to children for field trips is usually one adult to five children. The teacher counts as one adult chaperone. When the chaperone number is filled, no more adults will be asked to attend. No siblings or extended family members are allowed on the field trips under school supervision. If there are several field trips throughout the school year, the teacher will make every effort to rotate the chaperone duties. Thank you for supporting your child's education by participating in daily as well as special events.

WATER BOTTLES - Water bottles are allowed at school. They are to be filled with clear water ONLY, no Gatorade or fruit juices allowed.

COMPLAINT FORMS - Complaint Forms are available from the school secretary.

WILLIAMS ACT - YVES is in full compliance with the requirements of providing core curriculum textbooks for every child. Consumable workbooks are provided as a extra benefit to the students and are not a required core curriculum textbook. For more details, please contact the principal or refer to the posters that can be found in each classroom, in the office or in the library.
