Ms. Sharon Stanberry

Sharon Stanberry was a well-loved teacher here at Landers Elementary for 12 years. Her strong desire to teach students was what fueled her drive, and the successes her students and own children have made through the years are a testament to her talents of reaching others. Ms. Stanberry, born in January 21, 1954, passed away on July 27, 2020. She was 66 years old.

Ms. Stanberry loved to learn and go to school. She received her BA at UCLA, and years later, went back to Concordia University to receive her teaching certificate. While she was attending Concordia, she taught pre-school at Good Shepherd Lutheran Pre-school here in Yucca Valley. During her twelve years at Landers Elementary School, she taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, & 6th grades. She especially loved teaching 6th grade, as one of highlights was going to science camp with the students. Her absence at any of our after school events during those 12 years can be counted on one hand; her support of students was unbounding!

Ms. Stanberry was a history buff. She received her MA in Social Studies at Concordia. She really enjoyed Native American Women Studies. She loved to research primary documents about the Native Americans who lived in Southern California.

She went back to Concordia to study Administration and received her MA in Administration, hoping one day to be a principal at an elementary school.

Ms. Sharon Stanberry was a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, friend and dog groomer to name a few…most importantly, she believed in every student at Landers Elementary School; she believed in you! She will long be remembered in our hearts for her valuable contributions to our school and students.
