Dear Morongo Unified School District Students, Staff, and Families,
I am excited to welcome you and your children to the 2021-22 school year. After the last year of Distance Learning and Independent Studies, we are excited to be opening all of our campuses for in-person learning this school year. It is sure to be a new, fresh, positive beginning for all.
The State of California and the Federal Government have earmarked millions of dollars for our educational programs to ensure our students have a smooth transition back into the in-person educational system. As a result, we have been able to add additional counselors and specialized teachers on all campuses to help all of our students deal with our ever-changing world and the stresses and learning struggles that have been created due to the pandemic.
Unfortunately, we know that the pandemic is not over, and the lingering effects of it will be with us for some time. We will be following the California guidelines for safety by wearing masks, keeping social distance when necessary, washing hands as much as possible, sanitizing over the course of each day, and encouraging students, teachers, and staff members to stay home when sick.
As we transition back to in-person instruction, please continue to be optimistic and encouraging with your children about having a positive year and making the most of the educational process. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces and getting back to normal as soon as possible. We will keep you posted as mandates are updated. As always, the safety of our students, teachers, and staff members is of the utmost importance and will be our priority as we move forward.
We look forward to working together with you to make our return back to in-person instruction the best new beginning and school year ever! All campuses will open August 23, 2021. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s school if you have any questions or concerns.
Doug Weller, MUSD Superintendent
