Superintendent's Message
Dear Morongo Unified School District Students, Staff, and Families,

It is exciting to start the second half of the 2020-2021 school year with you and end a unique year, which will remain an experience we will talk about for the rest of our lives.  One of our site’s holiday cards summed the year up perfectly--“Well, that was weird!”    Since the transition to online learning in March, we all have made the adjustments necessary to make this new “weird” reality work, and everyone has done it extremely well.  We have been cautious to ensure that everyone follows the new guidelines to keep our students and staff safe, while ensuring quality instruction and learning takes place each day.  It has been a challenge, for sure, and our MUSD team deserves great kudos for making sure our students always come first.

Our teachers have been working diligently to design lessons for both online classes and independent study classes, which has not been an easy task.   They have managed to outshine and over-perform in every way. To enhance their online and independent studies instruction and uphold our pledge to maintain high instructional standards and expectations, the District has provided paid staff development for all of our teachers. This has been a paradigm shift never before experienced by teachers, students, and parents, not only for us but for the entire world.  Most of our students have been issued a device to use at home, and more are being purchased to distribute to ensure each and every student has the tools he/she needs to succeed.

We plan to continue to put our students in the forefront during this challenging time – to always keep our students in mind with each and every decision.   We ask that everyone have patience as we work through these new obstacles.  I am proud of everyone’s ingenuity and creativity, and I have every confidence that with our kindness and compassion for each other, we will emerge as a stronger MUSD family, and our students will excel.

As we move through the second half of this school year, I know from experience that our teachers, students, principals, staff, and parents will be successful.  If any group can excel in these tough times, it is our Morongo Unified family.  I am very honored and proud to be the Superintendent of Morongo  Unified and to share this journey with each and every one of you!

I wish our entire MUSD family an excellent start to the remainder of the 20-21 school year and am here to assist in any way I can.  Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or at (760)367-9191 if there is anything I can do to support you during these unique and challenging times.

Best regards,
Doug Weller, MUSD Superintendent
