Superintendent's Message

October 20, 2020

Dear Families and Community:

The Morongo Unified School District is tentatively planning on opening schools in a hybrid manner on January 19, 2021. This opening is tentative due to changing COVID conditions. Our district and Board of Education will review the data and make a further assessment as we move toward the first day of the second semester.

The District will continue to prepare for the opening o January 19 as any advance planning will be helpful to address the safety of our students and staff. The District will review survey results, current COVID data provided by San Bernardino County, and any guidance from other state and federal resources.

Dealing with challenges associated with COVID can be stressful and overwhelming to our students, families, and employees. Please take a moment to reflect on the fact that together we will move forward. Eventually, we will return back to our schools in a manner that allows personal interactions with each other in classroom settings. The challenge now is to maintain the optimism and courage to realize the timeline we set to reopen is a goal.

We all hope that the COVID conditions and restrictions are lessened, but will need the endurance to be prepared for possible delays. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time for our school district and others who call the Morongo Basin Home.

Sincerely,

Tom Baumgarten
Superintendent
