What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports

Oasis Elementary School began a "PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) Program," called, The Bobcat Way, which provides opportunities for all students (K - 6) to practice specific "life skills," through a direct, systematic and positive focus and expectations.? The goal of the program is to empower students to become positive and productive members of their school and community by improving social relationships, fostering mutual cooperation, and developing a sense of self and others to make healthy life choices and utilize correct behaviors.

Students at Oasis Elementary have daily opportunites to earn PAWS tickets for following the Bobcat Way of "Taking Care of Myself", "Taking Care of Eachother", "Taking Care of This Place", and "Learning With Tenacity and Grit."   Every week, these PAWS tickets are placed in bins and make the students eligible for a weekly drawing. 5 tickets for students in K-3 and 5 tickets for students in 4-6 are drawn.  Students whose names are picked get to choose from several prizes in the office.  Parents/guardians of the students who win will also receive a robocall with the news that their student's name was drawn.

In addition, all students who earn tickets throughout the month have their tickets placed in a prize drum where there names can be selected at our monthly assembly, which is held the first Wednesday of every month.   10 students in K-3 and 10 students in 4-6 will be selected to spin the prize wheel.
