Student Leadership student Pebbles Garcia handing out swag at the car wash

On Saturday, September 13th, Palm Vista Elementary School (PVES) had a very special event! Our Student Leadership team hosted a big car wash in the school parking lot. The event was from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and cars were still lining up when the gates had to close!

The car wash was planned by Student Leadership, with help from Ms. Soto (our school counselor), Mrs. Smith (5th grade teacher), Ms. St. Martin (dean of students), and our principal, Dr. Claudette Onumah. It was sponsored by the PVES PTO.

Over 50 cars got washed! 🧽🚙
Students and staff worked very hard. One of the hardest cars to wash was a big Toyota 4x4 SAAB training team truck from the nearby MCCS Twentynine Palms base. Even though it was tough work, everyone had fun and stayed smiling.

PVES raised over $800 with car washes, donations, and PVES swag sales! All the money goes to help support our school though our amazing PTO.

As cars pulled in, they were greeted by Ms. Soto and Student Leader Pebbles Garcia, who wore full PVES and Leadership swag. Each car got a free air freshener with the school seal, PVES car coasters, and a school sticker! Each volunteer and student leader received a cooling towel from Mojave's Creations.

Special THANK YOU to our amazing helpers:
Stephanie Jelensky, Daniel Crummett, and Ryan Lopez—thank you for volunteering!
Also thank you to Mr. De La Puente and Caty Eash, who are both staff, volunteers AND PTO members!

People from all over the community came to help. Some former PVES students (alumni), even Mr. Esteban Bautista, the P.E. teacher from Twentynine Palms Jr. High, came with some of his 6th and 7th grade students!

We are so proud of our PVES Student Leaders, staff, PTO, and volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped and came out to support. It was a wonderful day full of teamwork, fun, and Panther pride! 💚🐾 #PVES29
