Welcome to Morongo Unified School District

March

Spring brings a rebirth of activity as the wildflowers come to life and change our desert terrain. This is also the time of year when our students will have opportunities to demonstrate their learning by taking the range of assessments developed by the State of California.

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress system utilizes Smarter Balanced Assessments in grades 3 through 11 for English-Language Arts as well as Mathematics.  We also conduct assessments in Physical Education by use of the Fitnessgram® in grades 5, 7 and 9.

Many of our assessments will be taken on a computer. Previously, the use of a Number 2 pencil was the most common way for a student to demonstrate progress. As we all know, the world continues to change and one of our primary responsibilities is to prepare our students for the new opportunities that will await them. However, change also often provides great challenges for students, families and communities. During this month, particularly, I am asking you to ensure the following:

Students are well rested and at school every day possible Support our students and educators to approach these relatively new assessments with enthusiasm as well as perseverance.  Talk to your student about their future goals and the value of their education daily. Help them to set goals and work toward progress in an incremental manner.

The month of March also reminds us of the Ides of March, the death of Julius Caesar, and the transition from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. As we remember our past we can build on our future. Thank you for helping our schools march forward through the school year
in a productive manner.

Carpe diem! – Seize the Day!

New Student Information System

Morongo Unified School District changed to a new Student Information System this year.  A Portal for student access has recently opened for students to view their grades, take online assessments, and view attendance.  The Student Portal can be found at https://musd.illuminatehc.com/auth#tabs-student.  We are currently asking the parents to work with their children through the Student Portal until the Parent Portal becomes operational.
