Welcome to Morongo Unified School District

Tom Baumgarten.jpg

The months of December and January symbolize the end of one year and the start of a new year. We can reflect upon the past and celebrate the many accomplishments of our students and our employees. The hard-working students, educators and classified employees continue to practice skills that will prove essential for the future. The process of being a lifelong learner and the modeling of a strong work ethic is essential for a well-educated society. The Morongo Unified School District can be proud of our many caring employees who truly make a difference every day. Here are a few examples of accomplishments occurring throughout the district:

 Twentynine Palms High School was recognized as a Bronze Medal School by U.S. News and World Report.

 Twentynine Palms High School Select Choir performed at Carnegie Hall with the support of an outstanding booster club that raised in excess of $40,000
 Yucca Mesa Elementary School was recognized as a California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education.
 Four out of ten of the top-performing schools in San Bernardino County were in Morongo Unified School District
 Black Rock Continuation High School was the subject of a documentary and received a $100,000 donation from Ted Dintersmith for career/technology education.
 Community Services clubs at schools provided hundreds of turkeys, donated toys and other items to help less fortunate families in the Morongo Basin.
 Black Rock Continuation High School received a Model School verification visit from the California Department of Education.
 All elementary school students received a new pair of sneakers as a result of our partnership with Save The Children, Tom’s Shoes and our Outreach Coordinator
 Several schools reached an API score over 800 on the last statewide assessment given by the California Department of Education. Those schools were: Condor Elementary, Friendly Hills Elementary, Landers Elementary, Oasis Elementary, Morongo Valley Elementary, Twentynine Palms Elementary, Yucca Mesa Elementary, Yucca Valley Elementary, La Contenta Middle School and Twentynine Palms Junior High School.
 ROP programs have produced award-winning students in Culinary Arts and Engineering.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without the dynamic teamwork between educators, administrators, parents, teachers and community support. Please take the time to reflect upon that.

In the year 2015 we will face new challenges that will prove to be both difficult and inspiring.  The ability to adjust, adapt and embrace the demands of a changing world will be important.

Our job will be to utilize the resources we have to produce well-rounded, caring and contributing members of society. The performance on the standardized data measurements are just one piece of the puzzle to creating lifelong learners. Please support our employees as they consistently balance high expectations while connecting personally to each student. Help your student to find their passion in learning and become involved in their school. Encourage them to get involved in the creative arts, extra-curricular events and community service projects that occur at all of our sites.

January is truly a time for resolutions and setting new goals. It is also a time for renewed optimism and fresh starts. Together, we can all work to make sure 2015 is a year of both adventure and accomplishment that is truly a gift for everyone to take advantage of. Regardless of your particular race, religion or political background, the opportunity to reach your dreams is alive and well in the Morongo Unified School District.

New Student Information System

Morongo Unified School District changed to a new Student Information System this year.  A Portal for student access has recently opened for students to view their grades, take online assessments, and view attendance.  The Student Portal can be found at https://musd.illuminatehc.com/auth#tabs-student.  We are currently asking the parents to work with their children through the Student Portal until the Parent Portal becomes operational.

The District is close to completing the Parent Portal configuration for parents to view their child’s current grades and attendance.  The new Parent Portal will offer more detailed information about your student’s class progress and assignments.  In the future the District will be mailing out access codes to allow parents to create portal accounts.  The link to the new Parent Portal can be found at https://musd.illuminatehc.com/auth#tabs-parent.  A link to each portal will be available on the MUSD website as well as on each school’s webpage.  We apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused.
